Chapter 46 - The Real-Time Indictment
In an instant, the massive LED presentation screen behind Helena flickered, died, and exploded into a blazing wall of classified financial transactions, internal surveillance footage, and bio-metric trial records.
A gasp rippled through the hundreds of elite attendees.
Across the screen flashed the sealed corporate communications of Aegis-Nascence: encrypted contracts signed by Helena von Steiger authorizing monthly disbursements to Arthur Sterling; medical reports detailing the deliberate withholding of pediatric therapies from Veta Vance; and audio recordings of Helena discussing the forced clinical extraction of living cellular samples.
Above the stage, the ballroom’s state-of-the-art audiovisual system bypassed the local controls entirely. Veta’s voice, clear, steady, and amplified across three hundred speakers, filled the room:
*"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen of the European Bio-Pharma Consortium. My name is Veta Vance. Twelve years ago, Baroness von Steiger categorized my life as an expendable biological harvest. Three weeks ago, her associates destroyed my custom ventilator on American social media to cover their tracks. But data, unlike human conscience, never rots."*
Helena stepped back from the podium, her composure shattering as murmurs of horror and outrage broke out among the diplomats and press corps. "Shut it down! Cut the main power!" she screamed at her tech coordinators.
"They can't cut it, Baroness," David said, taking two slow, deliberate steps toward the stage as the guards hesitated, paralyzed by the live media cameras that were now broadcasting the leaked documents across international news networks. "My daughter has mirrored this feed to the International Criminal Court, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and every major news wire in the free world. In forty-five seconds, your private equity fund will be frozen under international human trafficking statutes."
"You arrogant peasant!" Helena hissed, losing all semblance of aristocratic dignity. She reached into her blazer, signaling her personal detachment. "You think a few documents can dismantle an empire built over half a century?"
"No," David said, his eyes burning with absolute triumph. "The documents didn't dismantle you. You dismantled yourself when you underestimated a father who had nothing left to lose."

A sudden sound of screeching tires echoed from the hotel concourse outside. Heavy boots pounded across the marble foyer. The double doors of the ballroom burst open, revealing Austrian federal tactical police alongside Interpol investigators, their weapons drawn and badges gleaming under the crystal lights.
"Helena von Steiger!" the lead commander shouted. "Step away from the podium! You are under arrest for international bio-piracy, criminal conspiracy, and state-level extortion!"
