Chapter 9 - THE EVICTION SPECTACLE

The Camelback Ridge villa was an architectural masterpiece. Glass curtain walls, an infinity-edge pool overlooking the Phoenix basin, and imported Italian travertine tile.

At 4:30 PM, Elena Vance was standing in the master bedroom, trying on a six-thousand-dollar emerald-green evening gown for tomorrow’s grand opening. Her hair was styled to perfection, her neck draped in diamonds that Christian had purchased using Meridian Global funds.

Downstairs, the heavy mahogany front doors slammed open.

Elena gasped, stepping out onto the floating glass staircase. "Christian? Honey, is that you? You won't believe the catering menu I finalized for tomorrow—"

She stopped dead on the landing.

Christian was not there.

Standing in the soaring foyer was Sienna Mercer, flanked by two private security contractors, Victoria Sterling, and a team of four professional movers carrying heavy cardboard packing crates.

Elena’s eyes flashed with anger, though a flicker of panic darted across her face. She had seen photographs of Sienna on Christian’s phone—always plain, always wearing business suits, always looking tired. But the woman standing in the foyer today did not look tired. She looked like an apex predator who had just walked into an open pasture.

"Who are you?" Elena demanded, descending two steps, her chin held high. "How dare you break into my private home! Get out before I call the police!"

Sienna looked up at her with cool amusement. "Call them, Elena. Officer Martinez from Phoenix Central is already familiar with the Mercer family. I’m sure he’d love another domestic call."

Elena froze. "You... you're Sienna."

"I am," Sienna said, stepping into the living room and running a gloved finger along the back of a three-thousand-dollar velvet sofa. "And this is not your home. The lease on this villa was executed by Apex Horizon Logistics, using funds embezzled from my company. Under court order CV-2024-0981, this property has been surrendered back to the corporate receiver."

Victoria Sterling stepped forward, holding up a certified court document stamped with the Maricopa County seal.

"Miss Vance, you have exactly sixty minutes to pack your personal effects—specifically, any clothing items purchased prior to your association with Christian Mercer. Every piece of jewelry, luxury handbag, and vehicle purchased with Apex Horizon funds is considered stolen property under Arizona Revised Statutes § 13-1802."

Elena let out a high-pitched, mocking laugh. "You're insane! Christian gave these to me! They are gifts! You can't touch my gifts!"

"A thief cannot convey legal title to stolen goods, Miss Vance," Victoria replied with icy precision. "Christian didn't give you gifts. He laundered corporate funds into your possession. If a single diamond ring leaves this premises, the sheriff waiting at the front gate will arrest you for possession of stolen property."

Elena’s face turned from haughty defiance to absolute terror. "Christian! Where is Christian?!"

"Christian is currently in a Glendale ranch house, without a dollar to his name and without a working cell phone," Sienna said, walking toward the base of the stairs. "He won't be coming to save you, Elena. Just like he didn't save his mother when she went to jail yesterday."

"You're a monster!" Elena cried, tears of rage finally spilling down her cheeks, ruining her mascara. "He never loved you! Do you hear me? He hated you! He said you were cold, boring, and obsessed with work! He said you were nothing compared to me!"

Sienna didn't blink. She didn't flinch.

"He was right about one thing," Sienna said, her voice dropping into a razor-sharp whisper. "I am obsessed with work. And right now... my work is dismantling every single luxury you stole from my life."

Sienna turned to the movers.

"Clear the house. Pack the jewelry in the secure lockboxes. Call the towing service for the white Range Rover in the garage."

"No! Not my car!" Elena shrieked, running down the stairs, trying to push past the movers.

A female private security guard stepped forward, blocking Elena with an outstretched arm. "Step back, ma'am. Do not interfere with court-ordered asset recovery."

Elena collapsed onto the bottom step, clutching her designer gown, sobbing uncontrollably as movers began boxing up her French perfumes, her designer shoe collection, and the imported furniture Christian had bought her.

Sienna stood at the doorway, looking back one last time.

"See you tomorrow night at your grand opening, Elena," Sienna said softly. "Don't be late."
