Chapter 6 - THE DISCOVERY OF THE SECRET VAULT
At 10:05 AM, Sienna walked into the third-floor procurement department.
The floor was a hive of activity. Dozens of cubicles hummed with the sound of ringing phones, clicking keyboards, and young analysts crunching supply-chain metrics.
At the end of the hall, behind frosted glass walls, sat Bradley Cooper. He was forty-two years old, slick, wearing an unbuttoned designer shirt, laughing loudly into his headset with his feet propped up on his mahogany desk.
Sienna pushed the door open without knocking.
Bradley looked up, startled. When he recognized Sienna, his face shifted instantly into an oily, deferential grin. He pulled off his headset.
"Sienna! Good morning! To what do I owe the honor of the Executive Director gracing our humble trenches? How’s Christian? We were supposed to hit the links at Silverleaf this weekend—"
Sienna tossed the thick audit folder onto his desk. It landed with a loud, heavy slap, knocking over his silver pen holder.
Bradley blinked. "What's this?"
"That," Sienna said, stepping forward until she loomed over his desk, "is the federal prison sentence you’re going to serve unless you open your personal laptop right now."
Bradley’s smile vanished. The color drained from his skin with terrifying speed. "Sienna, I don't know what kind of joke this is—"
"Page seven," Sienna commanded.
With trembling fingers, Bradley opened the folder. His eyes darted across the printed wire confirmations, the Delaware shell company registrations, and the copies of his own digital signatures approving thirty-two consecutive fraudulent invoices to Apex Horizon Logistics.
"Christian told me it was an off-the-books tax hedge for your marital estate!" Bradley stammered, his voice rising in panic. He stood up so fast his chair rolled back and hit the glass wall. "He told me you knew about it! He said you were using Apex to shelter family income from corporate dividend taxes!"
"Did you really believe that, Bradley?" Sienna asked, her voice lethal. "Or did you just enjoy the fifteen percent kickback Christian wired into your Cayman brokerage account every month?"
Bradley sank back down into his chair, his hands shaking so violently he couldn't keep them flat on the desk. "Sienna... please. I have two kids. If Meridian fires me, I’ll be blacklisted from the industry. The SEC will take my house!"
"You should have thought about your children before you helped my husband steal one point four million dollars from my company," Sienna said coldly. "Here are your options. Option A: In ten minutes, Meridian’s General Counsel and four armed Phoenix detectives will walk through that door. You will be arrested on the floor, escorted out in handcuffs, and charged with grand larceny, wire fraud, and commercial bribery."
Bradley began to hyperventilate. "What's Option B? God, please, what's Option B?!"
"Option B," Sienna said, leaning down, placing both hands on his desk, "is you log into the Apex Horizon master server right now. You give me Christian’s primary offshore routing numbers, every communication log you have ever exchanged with him, and the password to his encrypted cloud drive."
"He keeps everything on an encrypted Proton drive," Bradley blurted instantly, not hesitating for a single second to save himself. "The password is his mother's maiden name followed by the date they bought the Porsche! I’ll type it in! I’ll give you everything!"
"Do it," Sienna ordered.
Bradley scrambled across his desk, typing with frantic, sweaty fingers. Within two minutes, the encrypted folder opened on his dual monitors.
Sienna stood behind him, watching the directory structure populate.
There were tax files, wire transfers, fake delivery manifests... and then a folder titled simply: *E.V. - PARADISE VALLEY.*
Sienna pointed at the screen. "Open that folder."
Bradley clicked it.
A series of real estate closing documents, lease agreements, and high-resolution photographs filled the screen.
The first document was a luxury lease for a two-million-dollar modern villa located in the foothills of Camelback Mountain. The monthly rent was eleven thousand dollars—paid entirely from the Apex Horizon account.
The second document was an LLC registration for a luxury fashion boutique in Scottsdale named *Elena Vance Couture.*
And the third file was an image gallery.
Sienna leaned closer. Her stomach turned to lead.
The photographs showed Christian smiling under the golden Arizona sun, his arm wrapped tightly around the waist of a stunning, twenty-six-year-old brunette with high cheekbones and emerald-green eyes. In one photo, the woman was laughing, holding up a sparkling five-carat diamond ring.
In another photo, Christian and the woman were sitting on a yacht in Cabo San Lucas, clinking champagne glasses.
And sitting right next to them, smiling proudly with a glass of white wine in her hand, was Gwen Mercer.
The caption beneath the Cabo photograph, written in Christian’s handwriting on the saved digital scan, read:
