Chapter 7 - THE DOCKLANDS CONFRONTATION

Midnight at Black Falcon Terminal was wrapped in thick, freezing fog rolling off Boston Harbor.
A massive 150-foot luxury superyacht, The Crown Sovereign, sat quietly against the concrete pier, its engine humming softly as crew members loaded final crates of cargo.
Inside a sleek, black surveillance van parked two blocks away, Alex, Emily, and a team of federal agents reviewed digital schematics of the vessel.
"Federal warrants have been issued," Lead Agent Vance announced. "Markov’s ship is technically foreign soil under maritime law until they cast off, but we have authorization to board if we confirm Richard Vance is on board."
Emily pointed to a high-frequency satellite transmission feed displayed on the monitor. "Look at the vessel’s automated manifest logs. They just cleared an emergency encrypted wire transfer of twenty million dollars from Apex Capital to a bank in Cyprus. That’s Richard’s getaway fund."
"Can you trace the terminal location of that transfer?" Alex asked.
Emily’s fingers flew across the keyboard. "It was sent from the master stateroom on the upper deck. He’s inside right now."
"That’s all we need," Agent Vance declared. "Teams 1 and 2, move in!"
Within seconds, tactical response teams swarmed the pier, flashbang grenades exploding on the lower deck of the yacht with deafening booms.
"Federal Agents! Nobody move!"
Shouts and gunfire echoed across the foggy harbor as Markov’s hired mercenaries engaged the authorities.
Alex grabbed Emily’s hand. "Stay behind Marcus and the tactical detail!"
They boarded the vessel through the stern gangway as federal officers secured the main deck. Alex pulled a concealed firearm from his holster, moving with lethal, tactical precision—proving once again that his past involved far more than corporate boardrooms.
They pushed up the narrow spiral staircase toward the upper deck stateroom.
Alex kicked the door open.
Inside, the luxurious stateroom was in disarray. Stacks of bearer bonds and foreign currency were scattered across a mahogany desk.
Standing near an open wall safe was Richard Vance, holding a heavy silver revolver. His eyes were bloodshot, his face pale and twisted with desperation.
"Don't move, Alexander!" Richard screamed, aiming the gun directly at Alex’s chest.
Alex immediately stepped in front of Emily, shielding her completely with his body. "It’s over, Richard. The pier is surrounded. Markov’s men have surrendered."
"It’s not over until I say it’s over!" Richard shrieked, his hand trembling on the trigger. "You ruined my life! Your father took everything, and now you took my freedom!"
"You ruined your own life when you stole from this company and tried to kill my father!" Alex snapped, his voice ringing with absolute authority. "Put the gun down!"
Richard’s unhinged gaze shifted past Alex, landing on Emily standing behind him.
"You..." Richard hissed bitterly. "The little manager who wouldn't sign my papers. If you had just obeyed orders, none of this would have happened!"
In a split second of mad rage, Richard shifted his aim toward Emily.
"No!" Alex roared.
Before Richard could pull the trigger, Alex tackled him with terrifying speed. A deafening gunshot echoed through the enclosed stateroom.
Emily screamed.
The two men crashed onto the polished teak floor. Alex wrestled the gun from Richard’s grip, disarming him and pinning his arm brutally behind his back.
Federal agents burst into the stateroom a second later, throwing Richard to the floor and snapping zip-ties onto his wrists.
"Alexander Cole-Vance!" Richard screamed as he was dragged away. "You’ll rot in hell!"
Emily rushed forward, her heart in her throat. "Alex! Alex, are you okay?!"
Alex sat back against the desk, breathing heavily. He pressed a hand against his left side. When he pulled his hand away, his fingers were slick with crimson blood.
"Alex!" Emily dropped to her knees, tears spilling from her eyes as she pressed her hands tightly against his wound. "Oh God, you're hit!"
Alex looked down at her, a pale, exhausted smile touching his lips despite the pain. "I told you... I would always protect you..."
"Shut up! Don't talk!" Emily sobbed, applying pressure to the bleeding wound. "Medics! We need a medic in here now!"
Alex reached up, his trembling hand gently touching her tear-stained cheek. "Emily..."
May you like
"I’m right here, Alex. I’m right here."
"I... I think I missed our second date..." he whispered softly before his eyes closed, his hand slipping from her cheek as he lost consciousness.
