Chapter 22 - The Restitution

The following month marked the rebirth of Kensington Global.

With Blackwell in federal custody and Marcus Sterling cooperating with prosecutors to save himself from thirty years in prison, Arthur Kensington convened a global shareholder gala at the Chicago Cultural Center.

Under the breathtaking Tiffany stained-glass dome, hundreds of international investors, civic leaders, and corporate titans gathered in black-tie attire.

Arthur stood at the podium, looking vibrant, healthy, and more formidable than ever.

"The past two months have tested this institution," Arthur spoke into the microphone, his voice commanding absolute silence across the grand hall. "We were targeted by predators within and without. But a ship is only as strong as the navigator who stands firm in the center of the storm. And no one stood firmer than Claire Henderson."

The spotlight swung across the ballroom, landing directly on me.

"Tonight," Arthur announced, gesturing for me to join him on the stage, "I am stepping back from the chief executive role to assume the position of Chairman Emeritus. And it is my profound honor to announce that Claire Henderson has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of Kensington Global, backed by a fifteen percent personal equity grant."

The applause that erupted across the room was deafening.

I walked up the stage steps, smiling with genuine grace, shaking Arthur’s hand before taking the microphone. I had started as an underpaid analyst whose family stole her credit card to buy a boy a toy he couldn't afford; now, I stood at the pinnacle of Chicago's financial elite, untouchable, self-made, and completely free.

"Thank you, Arthur," I said into the microphone. "To those who believe in truth, resilience, and accountability: the future begins tonight."

The evening was a triumph of justice and restored dignity. For the first time in my life, the road ahead was entirely mine to build.
