Chapter 39 - The Sisterhood Reclaimed

Twenty-four hours later, the storm had passed.

The international news networks were engulfed in a global media firestorm. The arrest of Lord Jonathan Castlereagh and the sudden unraveling of the Saint-Germain Trust dominated every headline from Tokyo to New York. The shadow accounts that had terrorized our family for decades were systematically unsealed, their vast resources funneled into transparent public trusts and protective foundations.

The front gates of our suburban estate stood wide open, bathed in the gentle warmth of the late afternoon sun.

Marcus stood on the front lawn, his arms crossed, a rare, relaxed smile on his face as he watched private security teams pack their equipment and clear out.

Inside the nursery, the French doors were open to the garden breeze.

Lauren was sitting on the plush sofa, gently burping her son, while Sophia sat cross-legged on the floor beside the twin cribs. The sharp, asymmetrical bob was still there, but she had traded the tailored cashmere armor for an oversized woolen sweater.

In her arms, my daughter lay fast asleep, tiny fingers curled around Sophia’s thumb.

"She doesn't know how dangerous her aunt is," Lauren teased softly, though her eyes were filled with tears of quiet happiness.

Sophia looked down at the infant, a soft, wondrous smile gracing her lips—a smile that looked so much like Father's it made my heart ache with bittersweet joy.

"She will never have to be dangerous," Sophia whispered, her voice gentle as a lullaby. "Because the three of us will burn the world before anyone ever touches her."

I sat down next to Sophia on the rug, resting my head against her shoulder. Lauren leaned in from the other side, wrapping her arm around us both. For the first time since the nightmare began—since the day we found ourselves pregnant, hunted, and betrayed—we could finally breathe.

We were safe. The dynasty was reclaimed. The family was whole.

Or so we believed.
