Chapter 6 - A New Dawn

Back at Damon’s estate, the atmosphere was a world away from the panic in the Rochefort penthouse.
Minnie was sitting at a low mahogany table in the sunlit conservatory, her hands covered in flour and bright pink frosting. Next to her, standing in a chef’s apron, was Chef Antonio, the estate’s Michelin-starred culinary director, who was patiently teaching her how to decorate cupcakes.
"Like this, little princess," Antonio laughed warmly, guiding her tiny hand with a pastry bag. "A little swirl on top, and... voilà! A masterpiece."
Minnie giggled, clapping her flour-dusted hands together as she looked at her creation.
Damon walked into the conservatory, leaning against the doorframe with a cup of black coffee in hand. He watched her smile—a bright, untroubled smile that reached all the way to her eyes. For the first time in his adult life, the cavernous, sterile halls of his massive mansion felt like a home.
"Is it good?" Damon asked, walking over and crouching beside her chair.
Minnie immediately picked up her freshly decorated cupcake, holding it out to him with both hands. "For you, Mr. Damon. Because you saved me."
Damon took the cupcake, his chest tightening with an emotion he hadn't felt since he was a boy. He took a bite, smiling warmly. "It's the best cake I've ever tasted, Minnie. Better than the five-tier one at the gala."
"Really?" her eyes sparkled.
"Really," Damon said softly. Then, standing up, he looked at Marcus, who was waiting discreetly by the glass doors with a legal folder. "Report?"
May you like
"All assets seized from the Rochefort-Pendelton syndicate have been successfully transferred into a newly established trust," Marcus reported smoothly. "The 'Minnie Foundation for Children' is now officially chartered, fully funded with an initial endowment of fifty million dollars. It will provide safe housing, education, and nutrition for every child displaced by corrupt charities."
Damon nodded. "Make sure every single penny goes directly to the children. No overhead, no administrative skimming. If anyone so much as looks at a cent sideways, send them straight to federal prison."
