Chapter 10 - The True Celebration

One year later.

The ocean breeze swept gently across the cliffs of Amalfi, carrying the sweet scent of blooming lemon groves and salt water.

On the private terrace of the Villa Cimbrone, overlooking the azure expanse of the Mediterranean Sea, there were no reporters. There were no fake high-society socialites, no predatory business partners, and no toxic family members waiting to tear each other down.

There were only thirty people: our closest friends, our trusted colleagues from Hale Capital, and the mentors who had helped me build my life when my own blood had cast me aside.

I stood before an antique gilded mirror in the bridal suite, adjusting the delicate lace of my off-the-shoulder wedding gown. It was simple, breathtakingly elegant, and completely mine.

A gentle knock sounded at the door.

“Come in,” I called.

Alexander stepped inside, wearing an ivory linen tuxedo jacket and black trousers. He took one look at me, and his breath caught in his throat—the exact same way it had on the day we were legally married in that quiet, private city hall ceremony eighteen months ago.

“You look,” Alexander whispered, walking over to stand behind me, his hands resting gently on my waist, “like every dream I ever had before I even knew how to dream.”

I smiled, turning in his arms to wrap my hands around his neck. “Are you ready for round two, Mr. Hale?”

“I’ve been ready since the moment you walked into my office five years ago and told me my risk assessment model for the European telecom merger was completely incompetent,” he teased, pressing a warm kiss to the tip of my nose.

“It *was* incompetent,” I laughed, my heart overflowing with warmth. “You were overvaluing their sub-sea fiber lines by nearly four hundred million.”

“And you saved my firm,” Alexander murmured, his eyes softening with deep, profound adoration. “And then you saved me.”

He reached down, his warm hand gently coming to rest against my stomach.

Beneath the silk of my gown, a tiny, barely perceptible curve was just beginning to show. Twelve weeks along. A secret we had shared only with each other until today.

“And now,” Alexander whispered, his voice thick with emotion, “we get to build a real family. One built on love, on truth, and on safety.”

Tears of pure, unadulterated happiness welled in my eyes. I placed my hand over his, feeling the warmth of our future beating beneath our fingers.

“A real family,” I agreed.

Outside on the terrace, the string quartet began to play *Canon in D*.

Alexander offered me his arm.

I took it, holding my head high, my heart light, and my soul completely free.

As we walked out into the sunlight together, the crowd rose to their feet, their faces glowing with genuine love, respect, and joy.

I was no longer the daughter who was called a mistake. I was no longer the girl who was told she was an embarrassment.

I was Clara Hale—beloved wife, brilliant architect of my own destiny, and the mother of a new legacy that would never, ever know the shadow of fear.

And as Alexander took my hands beneath the arch of white roses, looking at me as if I were the only star in the entire universe, I knew with absolute, unshakable certainty that our story hadn't ended with revenge.

It had just begun with love.
