Chapter 8 - UNTOUCHABLE

Within sixty seconds, three black SUVs belonging to Luca’s security team tore into the garage, surrounding the wrecked vehicle. Marco and six armed men leaped out, weapons drawn, securing the scene instantly.
"Boss! Are you alright?" Marco shouted, rushing over to us.
Luca re-holstered his gun, his attention entirely focused on me. He grabbed my shoulders, his hands shaking slightly as his eyes scanned my body for injuries.
"Are you hurt? Mara, look at me. Did they touch you?"
"I... I'm okay," I gasped, my breathing ragged as I clung to his lapels. "Luca, I'm fine. You saved me."
Luca let out a deep, shuddering breath, pulling me violently into his arms and pressing his face into the crook of my neck. I could feel the intense adrenaline vibrating through his body.
Marco walked up to the wrecked SUV, checking the unconscious driver inside. "It's Julian Moretti's men, boss. They followed you from the hotel."
Luca didn't release me. He kept his arm securely around my waist as he turned his icy gaze toward Marco.
"Clean this up," Luca commanded, his voice cold enough to freeze hell itself. "And call the Moretti patriarch. Tell him that as of tonight, the Moretti family no longer operates in Chicago. If I see a single one of them in this city by sunrise, I will wipe them out personally."
"Yes, Mr. Castellani," Marco replied without hesitation.
Luca turned back to me, scooping me up into his arms effortlessly before I could even object.
"Luca! Put me down, I can walk!" I protested weakly, though I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck.

"You're wearing heels, you've had a traumatic shock, and you look far too beautiful for me to let your feet touch the ground," Luca said smoothly, carrying me toward a second security vehicle that had just pulled up.
He placed me gently in the backseat, climbing in right beside me and pulling the heavy armored door shut.
